Sean

Sean Sakamoto has worked in communications, marketing, and education for over two decades. His passion is using narrative to bring an understanding and love of science to as wide an audience as possible. He is thrilled to be working with the YHouse team, and hopes to bolster their efforts by sharing the ideas, work, and insights of this unique community of scientists and scholars with the public.

Sean first began his career in the education marketing group at Scholastic, Inc. He had a monthly column in the Japanese newspaper Mainichi Weekly, where he wrote about life in New York and Japan for over 10 years. He produced the short documentary The Heron and the Geisha: A Life in Dance with his wife Noriko in 2008. Sean enjoyed producing the feature documentaries: Star Trek: Secrets of the Universe (History), The Giant’s Dream: The Making of the Iron Giant (Warner Bros.), and Roots: A History Revealed (History) with Producer/Director Anthony Giacchino.

Sean studied Creative Writing at San Francisco State University and moved to New York City in 1995. He lives on Manhattan’s Lower East Side with his family.
